Norodom I Proof Piastre 1860 PR63 NGC, KMX-M9, Lecompte-88, Maz-499, Daniel-P88j, reeded edge. Proof fields, with light gray and gold toning. Evidence of die rust is noticeable on the obverse by Norodom's neck. It is general knowledge that there were two separate strikings of this type, the first, in Paris with a mintage of 10 pieces, and a later striking in Phnom Penh, from the original dies with a mintage of 50 pieces. The evidence of rusty dies on the obverse of this example show that this piece is from the Phnom Penh strikes. Extremely rare.
