Republic Yuan Shih-kai Specimen Pattern "L. Giorgi" Dollar Year 3 (1914) SP63 PCGS, Central mint in Tientsin, L&M-67, KM-Pn31, Kann-645, variety with "L. Giorgi" above the shoulder. This coins was designed by the Italian engraver Luigi Giorgi. Mr. Giorgi was the chief engraver of the Tientsin mint from 1910-1920. He designed most of the Yuan Shih-kai coins issued during that period. The regular circulation coins do not have the name "L. Giorgi" on the obverse, and all such coins with his signature are Pattern issues, and very rare. This example is well struck, with a light russet haze and no significant marks. The fields are reflective beneath the light patina and the condition is exceptional for the stated grade. The L.Giorgi signature is seen on three different Pattern Dollars of 1914, plus a few minor issues of that date, all of which are rare.

Estimate: 120000-150000 USD
