Republic Sun Yat-sen silver U.S.A Pattern "Junk" Dollar Year 18 (1929) MS62 NGC, Philadelphia mint, L&M-95, Kann-616, KM-Pn100. An incredibly popular U.S.A-struck pattern issue that was submitted alongside similar "junk" designs by mints in Italy, Japan, England and Austria. While nuanced, differences from the adopted design include more texture on Sun Yat-sen's clothing, as well as smaller obverse characters. Differences on the reverse include, three sails are featured on the junk boat, and the sea is higher in the background. The present example remains better preserved than the many that are seen with careless handling, with essentially mark-free surfaces that are crisply detailed and prooflike in the fields. Light orange-peach and mauve patina adorns both sides and adds a touch of character to the surfaces. An excellent opportunity for the advanced collector.Ex. Wa She Wong Collection
