Malaya Board of Commissioners of Currency $1 1.1.1940 Pick 4b. What was to become the first series of notes issued under the Board of Commissioners of Currency, Malaya, who took over issuing rights from the Government of the Straits Settlements. A shipment of these green $1 and blue $5 notes were captured by the Germans enroute from London to the Malay states. Due to their convertibility, these notes would have been a serendipitous new source of resources for the Axis war machine. In similar straits with the Hawaiian and North African notes, a new color was decided (though after the fact) and released after the war. PMG Very Fine 30 Net, split.
