Straits Settlements Government of Straits Settlements $50 24.9.1925 Pick 12a. A thoroughly impressive high denomination from the British possession. The original condition of this example - as highlighted by its PPQ designation - draws the attention of all collectors. From previous examples we've handled, we see the large denomination was no excuse from these notes' heavy use in commerce, with most examples today having frayed edges and wear from folding. The previous example of this design we've handled was an Apparent Very Fine 25 example which came from the Ruth Hill Collection, which realized $9,400, and was backed due to its fragility.
