Pound Elizabeth I sixth issue S.2534, N 2008 (North 3rd issue), but with Lion at the end of the legend as Schneider 797, die axis alignment 100 degrees, weight 10.98 grammes, this Tun and Lion variety was the first type of Pound struck between June 1593 and May 1594 and it is believed that only 12 specimens exist, the obverse Good Fine, with some weakness to the back of the head, the reverse extremely well struck, on a full round flan and very desirable. We note a Prooflike GEF/UNC example sold in our June 2015 auction and realised £28,000 hammer price, this piece is Ex LCA 153 Lot 1968 when it realised £10,000 hammer price
