Divus Augustus. Died AD 14. Æ Dupondius (29mm, 15.44 g, 6h). Rome mint. Struck under Gaius (Caligula), AD 37-41. DIVVS · AVGVSTVS, radiate head left; S C to either side / CONSENSV · SENAT · ET · EQ · ORDIN P · Q · R ·, Augustus(?), togate, seated left on curule chair, holding branch in extended right hand and globe(?) in left. RIC I 56 (Gaius); BMCRE 88–91 (Caligula); BN 137-8 (Caligula). Good VF, attractive brown surfaces, unobtrusive pit below bust.
