Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX. 1282-1328. Hyperpyron Nomisma (27mm, 4.10 g, 6h). Class IIb. Constantinople mint. Struck circa 1303-1320 or later. Half-length figure of the Theotokos, orans, within city walls with four towers; sigla: star above K | star above N / Christ standing facing, crowning Andronicus and Michael kneeling to left and right, respectively; seven pellets in two groups (one group of three, the other of four). Cf. DOC 327-49 (for type); PCPC 128 (cf. sigla 185 and 186); SB 2396. Near VF, flatly struck.
