The winged horse, al-burag, also appears on Arab-Sasanian pashiz from Istakhr (Gyselen-22, A-) and Darabjird (Gyselen-13, A-45.2). Al-Buraq was the winged horse, often illustrated with a human rather than an equine head, that carried the Prophet Muhammad from Mecca to Jerusalem, then back to Mecca.
