GREAT BRITAIN: Victoria, 1837-1901, AR medal, Indian Mutiny Medal with Defence of Lucknow clasp, miniature medal for wear on Military Dress or Evening Dress attire, with partial original riband, toned AU, RR. The Defence of Lucknow clasp was awarded to original defenders and to the relief force commanded by Sir Henry Havelock, 29 June - 22 November 1857. This medal was also awarded to the principal, masters and schoolboys from La Martinière College in Lucknow. The die for the medal was engraved by Leonard Charles Wyon. It is particularly rare and sought after by collectors.
