ABBASID: al-Radi, 934-940, AR dirham (2.45g), Ra's al-'Ayn, AH323, A-255.1, very clear mint date, some weakness, VF, RR. The denomination ends in -âr, thus for the gold dinar, confirmed by the word dinar in the outer area on the reverse, which would indicate that this die was to be used only for gold dinars. Bernardi knew of no dinar of Ra's al-Ayn for al-Radi, and it is likely that the mintmaster decided to use these dies for silver dirhams rather that discarding them.
Estimate: 200-300 USD
