AUSTRIA. Taler, 1760. Hall Mint. Maria Theresa (1740-80). NGC MS-66.
Dav-1121; KM-1816; Vogl-271/I. A classic Taler from the middle of Maria Theresa's reign which must be seen to be believed. Beginning with an exceptionally sharp strike leaving glorious fine detail with every strand of hair being shown in full relief and the textured fabrics which are so often lost being shown right down to the inner band of the upper reverse crown. The surfaces are utterly without mark or wear allowing the full fresh luster to flow throughout impeded only by the deepest of old cabinet toning found in the open fields. Clearly this piece was put away long ago as a full rainbow of colored toning has been able to establish itself on either side with warmer orange, yellow and lime green colors encroaching from the rim and then expanding out into pools of deep royal blue until finally finishing with violet hues at the centers. An absolute jewel of a coin where the grade speaks to only one part of the appeal. The highest certified example and likely at the top of available specimens. Truly stunning and sure to attract collectors for whom only the finest will do. NGC MS-66.
Estimate: $1000.00- $1500.00
