AUSTRIA. Marriage of Joseph II & Maria Josepha Gold Medal, 1765. Joseph II (1765-90). NGC AU-58.
29 mm; 10.4 gms. Witt-2249. Conjoined busts of the Archduke and his bride right; Reverse: Draped figure of Austria stands at left with hand on round pedestal displaying the arms of Austria and Bavaria while a winged Genius is at right. Struck to the weight of about 3 Ducats. Nicely struck on highly lustrous metal which shows some mild disturbances from light handling over the centuries but nothing overly detracting and the detailed devices contrast nicely with the flashing fields. Struck the same year Joseph became co-ruler with his mother Maria Theresa. NGC AU-58.
