Fr-254; Dupl-208; Ciani-196. RARE gold issue from early in the history of the unified Kingdom of France. A more simple design than is seen in the successive issue from this and following monarchs with the King enthroned in a simple field surrounded by basic tressure. Fine strike with full legends and devices showing no muddling or doubling if not complete boldness or delineation of beaded borders. Surfaces are toned a vibrant golden orange with strong underlying luster. Only trivial brushes of wear and a few scattered contact marks. PCGS AU-58 Secure Holder.
