GUATEMALA. 8 Reales, 1840-NG MA. NGC MS-65.
KM-4. A stunner of a coin from the first time you see it. Packed with flashing original luster throughout the surfaces which causes the vibrant rainbow toning to light up. Colors of golden yellow and orange, fiery lava red and electric blue are present on every speck of metal which is not in relief and is downright beautiful to behold. The strike is full and bold with only a slight deficiency on the central leaves of the Ceba tree which is the chronic issue for this type, although this example shows more leaves than most. One light adjustment mark runs across tree trunk only mentioned for accuracy. An absolute gem of a coin by every metric. The finest certified for the year of issue, including overdates and varieties, and one of only a handful of example for the entire run of the type to climb to this lofty grade. NGC MS-65.
