KM-118.1. Type IV counterstamps applied with hinged punches to an 1836-MT Lima Mint Peru 8 Reales (KM-142.3). A truly astounding example with the counterstamps being very sharp and showing original luster within. The host coin itself is a choice example of the type with crisp lettering and no detracting signs of wear. The surfaces are toned a pleasing medium gray throughout with original luster peeking through in the periphery and the protected areas. Easily one of the finest examples extant. NGC MS-62.
