HUNGARY. Millennium of Christianity in Hungary Gold Medal, 1973. BRILLIANT PROOF.
44.43 mm; 58.06 gms. By Dora De Pedery Hunt. Bust of Cardinal Jozsef Mindszenty facing three quarters left; Reverse: Cardinal's cap with dates below upon radiant disc with legend around. Edge marked "22K" and with serial number "010". This medal is often seen in base metals or bronze and occasionally in silver but the gold strikings are surely VERY RARE and are almost never offered. The frosted bust and devices are free from any signs of wear or breaks in the frosting and contrast pleasingly with the hard mirrored fields. Some light lines can be seen in the fields but do not appear to be from any concentrated cleaning. BRILLIANT PROOF.
