Fr-1501; KM-270; Gomes-26.01. VERY RARE final type and second to last year of hammered gold coinage issued in Portuguese India. Of finer style and manufacture than it predecessors with the full design rendered on both obverse and reverse. Evidence of multiple strikes with a touch of ghosting behind reverse cross. Formerly pinch mounted at 12 o'clock with small marks showing where the apparatus was removed but otherwise not overly cleaned or polished. Seldom offered and difficult to locate.
