MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1746-MF. Philip V (1700-46). NGC MS-63.
Fr-8; KM-148; Cal-Type 28 #143. An absolutely stunning example from the final year of the mentally fragile but long reigning Philip V although a posthumous striking would follow in 1747. Struck from slightly worn dies which show some filling and die brushing in the fine details of the curls in the King's hair and under his chin. A few light adjustment marks can be found when searched for as well. None of these however does anything to detract from the choice nature and appearance of this piece. Fine details are full rendered in the armor and cravat while the outer legends are bold and full. Complete radiant luster booms from surfaces which bear only a few tiny light contact marks. Toning is regulated to only a few small spots in the periphery which is a medium orange, some tawny streaks appear on the reverse which was probably due to former light earthen deposits. The finest certified example of the date including the overdate varieties and likely one of the finest available. Sure to take a place of prominence in the collection it enters. NGC MS-63.

Estimate: $16000.00- $20000.00
