RUSSIA. Centennial of the Forestry Institute of St. Petersburg Medal Struck in Silver, 1903. Nicholas II (1894-1917). PCGS SP-62 Secure Holder.
76 mm. Dia-1383.1. Conjoined busts of Alexander I and Nichlas II left; Reverse: Facade of Forestry Institution flanked by trees, legend above, date and engravers initials in exergue. Struck to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the Forest Institute by decree given in 1803 by Alexander I. Though the school was founded in 1803, Czar Peter I (The great) knew the importance of "Forest art" and authored the first law regarding this matter. The Forest Institute was the first higher learning institution in Russia for forestry and recruited the help of many well-known scientist both domestic and foreign. Due to the industrialization of forest science in 1929 the forest institute was reorganized into the Forest Technical Academy and became a large Polytechnic University training specialist in the various branches of the industry. In 2013, the institution now called the St. Petersburg State Forest Technical University (FTU) celebrated its 210th Anniversary. Lot also includes a certificate of authenticity from the State Historical Museum. Light wispy hairlines in the open fields from long ago now toned over with light attractive toning showing hues of red and gold. PCGS SP-62 Secure Holder.
