RUSSIAN ORDERS AND BADGES, CIVIL WAR AND THE USSR, ORDERS OF THE USSR, Documented and Researched Group of Hero of the Soviet Union Guards Colonel Zaitsev I.D. Guards Colonel Zaitsev Ivan Dmitrievich – commander of 40th Engineer-Sapper Brigade, 3rd Guards Army. Bestowed the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for successful support and execution of crossing of Oder River, while breaking through the enemy defenses, and capturing the city of Keltse. Group comes with; Order of Kutuzov II Class #1219 (Type 2, screwback); Order of the Red Banner #43901 (Type 1, screwback); Order of the Red Banner #3761 (Type 1, screwback, extremely rare variation without mintmark, with less than a handful observed); Order of the Patriotic War I Class #24404; Order of the Red Star #852954; Order of the Red Banner of Labor #406690; Orders Book, listing all of the above awards (nothing is missing). Another Orders Book for the Hero Star and corresponding Order of Lenin only (the items themselves were kept by the family). Research copies from Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of Russian Federation, confirming all awards and orders books (additionally, all citations can be obtained for free from public site podvignaroda.ru). Condition: first Red Banner has enamel loss, the Red Banner 2nd award has very minor enamel chips only, both have been reconverted to suspension and back, the screws are not original, the rest of items show normal signs of wear only.
