Canadian Currency
Liverpool, NS- Bank of Acadia $4 Dec. 2, 1872 Ch. # 5-10-02 We quote here from the Charlton reference: "Established in 1872 in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, The Bank of Acadia was in existence for only three months and twenty-six days, making it the shortest-lived bank in Canadian history. It re-opened for a few days after its failure to redeem some of its notes, but with the exception of the government, note holders not reimbursed at this time received nothing." Tonight's offering is only the second note we have ever handled from this rare bank. The first piece was a similarly graded note that realized almost $3000 in our sale of the Tom Flynn collection in 2008. PMG Fine 12, a rare and attractive example.

Estimate: 2000-3000 USD
