Cuba Republica de Cuba 1000 6.9.1869 Pick 60. A lovely example of the highest denomination issued during the 1868-76 Cuban Revolution. The vignette of three women at right was also used for the 1861 $20 Confederate T-17 notes that were printed by Hoyer & Ludwig in Richmond, VA. The figures represent Ceres, the goddess of agriculture, flanked by Commerce and Navigation. The design is also found on Obsolete notes issued by a number of different states as well as several banks. A representation of Union is observed at left and an eagle with outstretched wings is depicted at bottom center. PMG About Uncirculated 55 Net, with some minor ink burn in the left signature.
