Danzig Bank von Danzig 50 Gulden 5.2.1937 Pick 65. The final paper money issue for this free city state. Danzig was annexed by Nazi Germany on September 1, 1939 on the first day of World War II in Europe. Reichsmark coins and notes then became legal tender alongside the Gulden. There were two official exchange rates in effect depending upon the situation. The Gulden was redeemable until July 25, 1940. Collectors are fortunate that a few survived in high grades.
