Madagascar Banque de Madagascar 5000 Francs 23.11.1955 Pick 49b. Moderate circulation is seen on this scarce 5000 Francs note. While pricing exists in the Standard Catalog of World Paper (XF at $450 and UNC at $1000), the prices seem irrelevant given the utter lack of auction offerings. A Pick 49a, with the different signature panels was offered a couple years ago realizing around $700. That realization is likely to be exceeded by this example. The paper is still quite bright, though there are some minor issues disclosed by PMG, including a small hole, some barely visible rust, and minor splits. PMG Extremely Fine 40.
