Panama Banco Central de Emission 1 Balboa 1941 Pick 22a. A rare note that was legal tender in Panama only from October 2 to October 9, 1941. The anti-American President Dr. Arnulfo Arias took a trip to Cuba on October 9th to visit his paramour. This trip was not authorized by the National Assembly and the National Assembly ousted Dr. Arias from power. All notes that had not been issued during the previous week would have an upcoming engagement with the incinerator. At PMG Choice Very Fine 35, retouched and minor rust, this is the highest third party graded example that we have auctioned. The rust is minor and has been lightened. Also, a penned named has been lightened in the back lower right corner. We had a PMG VF 25 Net Pick 22a go for $1116.25 in January 2015. From The Alta California Collection
