St. Hyacinthe, LC- Banque Canadienne $2 Aug. 23, 1836 Ch. # 80-10-04. A very scarce Canadian bank that is making its first appearance in one of our auctions. The Banque Canadienne was a short-lived venture opening in 1836 and then failing just two years later. According to the Charlton reference, $2 notes are much scarcer from here than their $1 counterparts. This example has a missing corner and was previously mounted but, otherwise, it maintains a pleasing appearance with good color and bold signatures. PMG Fine 12 Net.
