1787 FUGIO Fugio Cent, STATES UNITED, 4 Cinquefoils, Pointed Rays MS65 Red and Brown NGC. N. 12-X, W-6820, R.3. This is the finest example of the Bank of New York Hoard N. 12-X that we have handled, ahead of two other Red and Brown examples graded MS64 and MS62. We have handled 40 Brown Mint State pieces, but none finer than MS64. This piece exhibits about one-third of its original orange mint color, combined with blue and violet tinged brown toning. The surfaces are remarkable free of the usual planchet fissures normally encountered on Fugio cents. Listed on page 89 of the 2017 Guide Book. Census: 8 in 65 Red and Brown, 0 finer (11/16).
