(1800) Washington Funeral Urn Medal, Silver, VF30 NGC. Baker-166A, Fuld 3-B, Musante GW-70B. 29.3 mm. Early American engraver Jacob Perkins made the Funeral Urn medals for George Washington's civic funeral procession, held February 22, 1800. Several die varieties are known, struck in gold, silver, copper, or white metal. Most pieces, including the present silver example, have a small hole at 12 o'clock. Gunmetal-gray fields contrast with cream-white high points. The urn displays moderate wear, but the surfaces are attractive despite a slight reverse rim nick near 6 o'clock.
