1795 1/2 C Plain Edge, No Pole, Thin Planchet, C-6a, B-6a, R.2 -- Flipover Double Strike in Collar -- VG8 PCGS. No date is present, but the die marriage is confirmed by the absence of a pole and the presence of a leaf tip below the final A in AMERICA. The first strike was off center, with the fraction denominator and the U in UNITED nearly against the rim, as seen at 9 o'clock relative to the second strike. From the first strike, a majority of AMERICA and LIBERTY are also apparent, the latter near UNITED from the second strike. The second strike was properly centered. Despite the double strike, a letter O from the Talbot, Allum & Lee undertype is apparent near the O in OF. The medium brown surfaces are lightly granular, and a few faint thin marks are noted on the upper reverse, along with a small pit above the C in AMERICA (from the first strike). Our EAC grade Good 5.
