Proof Braided Hair Half Cents
1842 1/2 C Second Restrike, B-3, R.6, PR64 Brown PCGS. The short die lines over RICA of AMERICA identify the Second Restrike proof half cents, also known as the Reverse of 1856 proofs, since the reverse die was first used for the 1856 half cents, then followed for the proof restrikes dated 1840 to 1849. This Choice proof exhibits lovely light brown on the obverse, and steel-brown on the reverse, with fully mirrored fields and splendid iridescent overtones. Our EAC grade PR62.
