Proof Braided Hair Half Cents
1848 1/2 C Original, B-1, Low R.6, PR62 Red and Brown PCGS. The series of Original proof-only Braided Hair half cents issued from 1840 to 1849, and in 1852, feature large berries in the wreath on the reverse, while First Restrikes and Second Restrikes had small berries in the wreath. This example has blue, green, and violet toning splashed on pinkish-orange surfaces with lightly mirrored fields around its sharply detailed devices. Trivial contact marks are evident on both sides. Our EAC grade PR50.
