Large Cents
1847 1C Large Over Small 47, N-2, R.3, MS63 Brown PCGS. CAC. This is the most plentiful of the three die pairings that comprise the 1847 Large Over Small 47 Guide Book variety. Examples are seldom seen this fine and are rare any finer. The Select Brown coin in this lot displays a sharp strike that includes most of the peripheral stars and dentils. Lustrous olive-brown surfaces show hints of an underlying copper-red glow when tilted beneath a light. A few trivial marks on Liberty's portrait determine the grade. Our EAC grade AU55. Population (all three 47/47 varieties included): 15 in 63 Brown, 10 finer. CAC: 3 in 63, 4 finer (11/16).
