Large Cents
1857 1C Small Date, N-2, R.1, MS65 Red and Brown PCGS. A single Large Date variety and four Small Date varieties are known for the 1857 large cents, but two of those four Small Date varieties (N-3 and N-5) are proof only issues. While the other two varieties (N-2 and N-4) are common, they are extremely popular with collectors who enjoy final-year coinage for type collections. These pieces are infrequently encountered with original mint red. This example has considerable orange mint color remaining, with delicate bluish-brown toning on each side. An impressive piece for an advanced collection. Our EAC grade MS63. Population: 6 in 65 Red and Brown, 1 finer for both Small Date varieties (11/16).
