1864 1C Copper-Nickel MS65+ PCGS. CAC. Copper Nickel. Doubly recognized by the PCGS Plus designation and CAC endorsement, this near-Gem cent is brightly lustrous and sharply struck. Outnumbered by cents struck from the new bronze alloy, the copper-nickel production is rare in high Mint State grades. A well-preserved nickel-gold example, sharply struck with glossy and appealing surfaces. A heavy die crack runs through the top-left shield corner. A nick at the hairline near the eye and a few inconsequential, pinprick carbon flecks are noted. Population: 2 in 65+, 32 finer. CAC: 47 in 65, 10 finer (10/16).
