Three Cent Nickels
1884 3CN AU53 PCGS. CAC. This is the key issue in the business strike three cent nickel series, and examples are rare at all grade levels. While the 1884 had a tiny mintage of only 1,700 pieces, the business strike production was even smaller in 1885, at a mere 1,000 specimens. Survivorship is lower for the 1884, however. This example is boldly struck with mark-free, dove-gray surfaces that only reveal a modest degree of high-point wear on each side. Population: 3 in 53, 24 finer. CAC: 1 in 53, 2 finer (11/16).
