1873 5C Open 3 MS65 PCGS. CAC. The Mint struck nearly 10 times as many Open 3 nickels in 1873 as Closed 3 nickels. Nevertheless, Open 3 representatives are very scarcely offered in this high grade. Blushes of gold appear over brilliant, nickel-gray surfaces. The reverse is better-defined than the obverse. Population: 51 in 65 (8 in 65+), 12 finer. CAC: 13 in 65, 8 finer (11/16).
