Liberty Nickels
1886 5C MS65 PCGS. Only the 1912-S and 1885 boast smaller mintages than the 1886, a heralded keystone issue with a production of 3.3 million pieces. Interestingly, PCGS ranks the 1886 ahead of all Liberty nickels in MS65 and finer, including the 1885. Wisps of amber-gold patina complement largely lilac-gray surfaces. Radiant luster flows over carefully preserved surfaces that show numerous die cracks. The stars and lower wreath elements are incomplete, but detail is good elsewhere. Population: 54 in 65 (2 in 65+), 9 finer (10/16).
