Liberty Nickels
1886 5C MS65 NGC. A highly lustrous example of this key Liberty nickel issue. Well-defined in the centers, though the stars and peripheral wreath elements display some softness. A thin layer of golden patina drapes much of the otherwise nickel-gray surfaces. Despite an original mintage of more than 3.3 million pieces, few examples were saved, and Mint State coins are elusive today. Census: 28 in 65, 3 finer (10/16).
