Liberty Nickels
1912-S 5C MS66 PCGS. The California facility was the first branch mint in United States history to try its hand at striking minor coinage when it manufactured cents in 1908. Four years later, both the San Francisco and Denver mints produced nickels for the first time. The former accomplished a meager production of 238,000 coins, by far the lowest in the series. This wholly brilliant, radiantly frosted Premium Gem nickel is boldly struck and impeccably preserved. The right ear of corn has distinct kernel detail. Population: 50 in 66 (2 in 66+), 0 finer (11/16).
