1901 5C PR67+ PCGS. CAC. The 1901 proofs seldom display deeply mirrorlike fields, but this brilliant and sharply struck Superb Gem proof does, especially on the obverse. Untoned save for a few fleeting glimpses of caramel-gold patina, the surfaces show virtually no imperfections and the lightly frosted devices are unblemished. PCGS has seen a single numerically finer example. Population: 42 in 67 (5 in 67+), 1 finer. CAC: 19 in 67, 0 finer (10/16).
