1940 5C Reverse of 1938, FS-901, PR67 PCGS. CAC. Apricot-gold toning dominates, although powder-blue and lilac shades visit portions of the reverse field. Monticello has wavy steps, as seen on all 1938 proof nickels. Most 1940 proof nickels are the straight steps subtype, introduced in 1939. Cherrypickers' calls FS-901 "an extremely rare variety." Population: 76 in 67 (7 in 67+), 2 finer. CAC: 12 in 67, 1 finer (11/16).
