Proof Jefferson Nickels
1971 5C No S, FS-501, PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. The Mint confirmed that 1,655 proof nickels were struck in 1971 before the S mintmark was added to the die in Philadelphia. This is a tiny number of coins, especially when compared to the large and growing number of collectors of this series. This piece is tied for finest among Ultra/Deep Cameo examples. Each side is brilliant and we do not see any evidence of post-striking flaws that would prevent a perfect grade designation. Census: 5 in 69 Ultra Cameo, 0 finer (11/16).
