Seated Half Dimes
1869-S H10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. V-2. Uncirculated branch mint coinage challenges collectors of Liberty Seated material, and, while a few common issues exist, the 1869-S half dime is certainly not among them. This issue is extremely rare at the Gem level and substantially higher-valued than MS64 examples. This largely untoned Premium Gem reveals scattered hints of gray above the figure of Liberty and on the reverse within the wreath. The lustrous, smooth surfaces create substantial eye appeal, as the CAC approval attests. The obverse exhibits some strike weakness, at the rock and lower part of the shield, and the upper portion of the wreath is similarly struck. Population: 4 in 66 (1 in 66+), 0 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 0 finer (11/16).
