Proof Seated Dimes
1866 10C F-102, R.3, PR67 ★ NGC. A total of 725 proof dimes were produced in 1866. A mere six examples at NGC have been awarded the Star designation. The Seated dime specialist will not want to miss out on this resplendent example. Slivers of deep cobalt-blue and lavender gravitate to the obverse margin, ceding to softer shades of russet in the center. Liberty's portrait displays modest contrast with the mirrored fields. The reverse features a melange of deep lavender, and lighter bluish-green, violet, and rose. The design elements are sharply impressed and both sides yield immaculate preservation. These attributes combine to affirm the coveted Star designation. Census: 7 in 67 (3 in 67 ★), 2 finer (11/16).
