Barber Dimes
1905-S 10C MS66 PCGS. CAC. After restricting production to 800,000 dimes in 1904, the California branch mint manufactured more than 6.8 million coins in 1905. Choice examples are readily available, but the surviving population drops off severely in Gem condition. Premium Gems are very rare, and finer coins are almost unseen in today's marketplace. The combination of shimmering frosty luster and dramatic multihued toning provides the viewer with a memorable first impression. Closer inspection reveals stunning shades of blue and purple with green and orange accents over surfaces that are free from all but a few lightly scattered flecks. The bold strike is typical of S-mint dimes from the period. Housed in an older green label holder. Population: 13 in 66 (2 in 66+), 4 finer. CAC: 4 in 66, 4 finer (11/16).
