Early Quarters
1796 25C B-1, R.4, AG3 PCGS. A well-worn but problem-free example of this important key date. The 1796 Draped Bust quarter is always in demand as the first year of the denomination and the only date with the Small Eagle reverse. The surfaces are lightly abraded and minimally granular. The date is sharp, and all stars are at least partly present, but the reverse legends are weak except for the ICA in AMERICA.
Ex: Chicago Signature (Heritage, 8/2011), lot 3718, which realized $6,900.
