Early Quarters
1804 25C B-1, R.3, Fine 12 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 2/2. Clash marks appear near Liberty's bust and neck, and near the scroll end. B-1 is the more often seen of two die pairs for this very scarce date. Examples are identified by the 4 positioned close to the bust. A die scratch is frequently found near star 9, as here. Both sides remain well-detailed with slight softness near the lower reverse border and alternating shades of light and dark gray throughout. A challenging and highly desirable issue in any grade with a paltry mintage of 6,738 coins.
