1815 25C B-1, R.1, MS62 NGC. Tompkins Die State 1/1. A diagnostic die line off the forecurl pointing to star 7 and the lack of visible die clashing or die lapping suggests an early state of the dies. Shades of rose, lavender, and gold toning deepen at the borders of this smooth and attractive Mint State example. The "L" counterstamp is strategically punched near the front edge of Liberty's cap. Scarcer than its "E" counterpart when stamped on 1815 quarters, the "L" mark adds interest and confirms the high grade seen on many of these enigmatic counterstamped examples.
