Bust Quarters
1818/5 25C B-1, R.2, XF45 PCGS. Tompkins Die State 3/5. The flag of an underdigit 5 shows clearly in the top loop of the second 8 in the date. Scarce in this late stage of the dies with a defining crack through the period of 25 C. This is an album-toned, Choice example with deep-blue border toning around amber-gold and lilac-gray interiors. Sharply defined except at the eagle's head and neck, generous mint luster remains in the recesses. Population (all 1818/5 varieties): 7 in 45, 64 finer (10/16).
